Next.js web applications

Next.js and React websites for Malaysian businesses that need a fast product or marketing site, or a web app with its own logic, where a CMS-first WordPress build is not the best fit.

When Next.js is the right choice

  • Product and SaaS-style marketing sites where speed, design control, and Core Web Vitals matter
  • Sites with interactive tools: quote estimators, calculators, configurators, and lead forms with logic
  • Web apps and dashboards that sit on top of an API or database
  • Frontends that talk to a Laravel backend or other services

When WordPress is the better choice

If several non-technical staff publish content every week, or you need WooCommerce, WordPress is usually simpler and cheaper to run. A Next.js site can still have editable content through a headless CMS, but that adds a moving part. The trade-offs are covered in Next.js vs WordPress for Malaysian SMEs, and the recommendation for your project comes with reasons, not a default.

Published Next.js work

  • BukuCloud: SaaS product website with product storytelling and conversion paths, paired with the Laravel accounting app
  • NiagaX (niagax.my): a business operating system for Malaysian micro-SMEs, with Admin, Finance, Operations, Sales, HR, and Marketing modules on one screen
  • Fasttrade Ventures: B2B agency website with lead generation, quote estimation, and analytics integrations

What a Next.js build includes

  • Responsive layouts built with React and Tailwind CSS, designed for mobile first
  • Static or server rendering per page, so content is crawlable and loads quickly
  • Metadata, JSON-LD structured data, sitemaps, and redirects handled in code
  • Forms that send to WhatsApp, email, or your CRM, with spam protection
  • Analytics with conversion events on the actions that matter, such as WhatsApp clicks and form submissions
  • Deployment on Vercel or your own server, with preview links for every change

Performance and SEO

Next.js makes fast pages easier but does not guarantee them. Images are sized and compressed, fonts are self-hosted, third-party scripts are deferred, and pages are checked against Core Web Vitals before launch. If you are moving from an older site, every old URL is mapped to a new one with 301 redirects so search rankings carry over. See the technical SEO launch checklist.

What to prepare

  • Two or three sites you like, and what you like about each
  • The pages or screens you expect, even as a rough list
  • Who will update content after launch, and how often
  • Any system the site must talk to: CRM, booking tool, payment gateway, or your own API
  • Your current domain and hosting details, if you have them

A rough list is enough. Scope is refined during discovery, and anything still unclear is written into the quote as an assumption so you can see exactly what is included.

How a project runs

  1. Discovery. Goals, users, constraints, and the workflows that must work on day one. Send what you have on WhatsApp or the quote form; a short call follows if the scope needs it.
  2. Scope and quote. A written, custom quotation with assumptions and exclusions listed. No fixed packages, so you are not paying for pages or features you do not need.
  3. Build and launch. Work happens on a staging copy you can review before anything goes live. Launch includes redirects, analytics, and a final check of forms and payments.
  4. Support. Handover of every account and credential, plus maintenance, security checks, and backups if you want them after launch.

What you own at the end

The domain, hosting, admin accounts, and code are registered to your business, not to the developer. You get the logins on handover, so another developer can pick the project up later if they need to.

Frequently asked questions

Is Next.js better than WordPress for SEO?

Neither is better by default. Both can rank well when pages are fast, crawlable, and well structured. Next.js gives more control over performance; WordPress makes frequent publishing easier. The right choice depends on who edits the site and how often.

Can I edit a Next.js website myself?

Yes, if it is connected to a headless CMS or an admin panel. Without one, content changes need a developer. This is decided during scoping based on how often content changes.

Can a Next.js site work with a Laravel backend?

Yes. BukuCloud pairs a Next.js product website with a Laravel accounting app. The Next.js site can read from and send data to a Laravel API, so marketing pages and the system share one login flow or data source where needed.

Where is a Next.js site hosted?

Usually on Vercel, which suits Next.js well, or on your own server. Accounts are set up in your business name.
